Exterior Front Entry

In my last post, I was focusing on some of the items that we would like to complete before year end.  This past weekend Dave and I completed the last portion of our exterior front entry.

It is incredibly flat looking, right?  Did someone cut its nose off?  Oh yeah….that was me!!

That roof was a rotten mess, so out with the old rotten, yucky roof and on with the new.  I’ve said it before…what’s with the offcenter roof line????

Supplies

  • 2 4×4 – cut to 9 feet
  • 2 2×6 8ft
  • 1 2×8 8ft
  • 3 2×6 12ft
  • 4 1×5 8ft
  • 2 12ft steel panels
  • flash sealant
  • flashing
  • drip edge
  • lag screws and roofing nails
  • 2 4×4 post base

Just over halfway

12 total hours of work- mostly done by 1 person.  I helped a little…so maybe it could be counted as 1.5 people??

Putting on the last details

The best part is the day after we finished….it rained.

Totally protected under this roof

For a weekends worth of work and $260 we were able to get that extra layer of protection for the front door and those of us that use it 🙂
