At this time last year (2016!!) I posted our plans for the year. We were pretty successful, which I can truly say…I am surprised about that.
Here is the list as described on Jan 4th of last year:
- Master Bathroom – started
- Guest Bathroom – vanity purchased
- Downstairs bathroom
- Front porch roof
- Finish front walkway
- Terrace hill to the chicken coop
Master Bathroom – Done!
Guest Bathroom – In Progress
Downstairs Bathroom – In Progress. thisclosetobeingdone
Sheetrock, mud, tape, texture are on tap for this weekend.
Front Porch Roof and Front Walkway – Done
Terrace hill to chicken coop – Done
I also added a few things back in November.
- Back Gate – The back gate is up….but I have no pics for you 😦 fail
- Furniture placement in the basement – the fireplace is here!
Dave flies home later today and we will be hammering out as much of the basement bathroom as we can and laying out our plans for 2017. I will have our list ready for you next week!
Enjoy your weekend Peeps.
Which bathroom? Is that the question you are thinking in your head? How about both bathrooms?! Hells yeah.
Basement bathroom has seen the needle move the most. As I said in my Instagram post, this pic makes me feel like we have taken several steps backward. It is a positive thing though….we are prepping for tile.
We are prepping for tile on our landing as well. Check out that retro linoleum:
I can’t make it around the corner for a pic of the bathroom but here is the landing:
Such a good look for you 1970’s house.
Looking in from that door
I am eagerly anticipating the grout being completed and the laundry (!) getting hooked back up.
I have been planning this bathroom for AGES. (read years)
***Chris H – did you see that I took your advice??
Future plan for this bathroom –
- finish painting the walls blue
- floor tile (same as basement and landings)
- new tub insert
- price out tile for the shower portion (may be a full insert, may be just a tub)
- install white toilet
- install white vanity
- new trim
- evaluate the art
More pics to come as we complete each project! Happy New Year Peeps.
We have been slowly working on this bathroom in between Dave’s work trips. A lot has gotten done, but we still have a bit to do.
This pic is right after the shower was installed. months ago
Our next move was to build a niche for the toilet behind the shower. Drywall – ARG. No fun. Dave was very dusty for a few days.
drywall, mud and tape
texture and paint
We are currently working on getting the cedar planks up on the ceiling. Reminder: We put the same planks on the ceiling in the Master bathroom. and we are planning on the same ceiling in the Guest Bathroom upstairs…..say what??? continuity….I know, I am getting all crazy in here.
Since we are working an inch at a time, I have decided to distract myself with an art search. I would like something to hang above the toilet. What should it be?
I am all over the board with this (as always). A few years ago I was given an Antler Toilet paper holder (you can barely see it in the double toilet picture up above), so I would at least like to make it somewhat make sense.
I also like almost everything made by GrittyCityGoods. They are responsible for the piece in my Master Bathroom.
I have always wanted to try my hand at a graffiti style spray paint piece.
What should I do people?????
We are not done with the basement bathroom and I am already anxious to move onto the Guest bathroom. I know…. The only thing that has changed about this bathroom since we moved in, is the paint color and the art.
I went shopping at Ikea in 2013. Yes, you read that right. I purchased my vanity and faucet for the guest bathroom in 2013. I love what I picked out and am still very excited for the changes to come in that room.
I am now pulling together all of images of bathrooms that I have been saving since 2013. I would like to narrow down my paint colors. The entire vanity, toilet and shower will be white…..so some color will be a nice addition.
Any preferences? I am leaning towards the 1st and 3rd blue.
Jules had an eventful birthday this year. Her piano recital was first thing on Saturday morning….no sleeping in for you sweetheart.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at home, prepping for the party. The kids had a blast – it was a very ‘crafty’ time. I kid you not….its like a glitter bomb went off in my house. I will be cleaning that up for months to come….hahahaha The projects were winter themed; button wreaths, foam picture frames and tiny little wooden shapes. The girls decorated their own cupcakes as well.
All in all a busy, messy and loud birthday. I would call that a success
Happy 11th Birthday Blondie….I love you
One of the things that does not happen when I take photos, is staging. Would the house pictures look better if I added some things in and moved others around in order to get a great shot? Of course! But that is not how we live in this house and it would not give you an accurate view into how we make this house work for us. The only thing that really changes is the level of cleanliness. hahahaha. Seriously though. I try to take pics after we have picked up the randoms that have accumulated over the course of a few days.
I ran home at lunch yesterday to take a few phone pics of how this place can look at any random time. and poorly lit…sorry peeps
Kitchen is pretty good in comparison to some days. 🙂 Wine left out from book club the night before, dishes left out to dry, Jane’s glass on the counter and my glass on the bar
Jane’s room is looking good.
Main bathroom is so-so. FULL garbage and Jane’s necklace left out on the counter.
The master is the worst. I have a container full of old, small toys to sort through (next to my bedside table). Dave has a pile of clothes that needs to be put away….I think this is Day 3….no Day 4
As a contrast here is the same shot – but clean and lit well.
If you follow me on Instagram – you see the house as it really is on a day to day basis. Here is a pic of Jules dancing; coat on the floor, paper on the chair, etc.
I love the pics that show the house well lit and clean…but I will continue to add in some pics on Instagram and here that represents our day to day life, mess and all.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving with those that you love.
Jules and Jane wrote incredibly sweet notes for everyone. **sniff**
In house news, the stairs to the chicken coop are complete. At the end of the last post we still had a few things to finish up in order to call this done for the winter.
The final stair is in and the bush under the window has been moved.
A layer of concrete has been installed upon the upper tier. We have had snow since this picture and let me tell you…..what a relief to be able to make it to the chickens without worrying about slipping down the hill. clutz
I will be focusing on the basement for the next few months – bathroom and family room. I need to settle on furniture placement and art before I can say I am done with the family room.
Here are some inspiration shots:
I am all over the board with this. hahaha wish me luck. 🙂
