DIY -Installation of the Front Door

It’s in.  It’s done!   I love it so.  Oh….wait a minute…let me back up and give you some back ground.

Many moons ago, in a land called Montana….there was this girl who bought a front door and wanted it installed.  The front door that was on the house was a good front door….just not the right one.  So after many internet searches, the perfect one was found and purchased……in March.

Old Door:

IMG_0045The new front door has been impatiently waiting to be placed in its rightful place…(ok – the impatiently waiting part was all me)

Dave was super awesome about the whole thing.  He had to do all of the work to get the hinges cut in and the holes cut for the deadbolt and door handle.

IMG_2344There was only one mis-step…..the door was up -but we needed to take it down and shave off a little bit from the side to ensure a good fit.

IMG_2345Isn’t it wonderful??  The slammer screen door kind of takes away from the overall affect.  But that slammer door is staying, at least for the summer.

Bedroom upfit

I have not done anything new for the decor in the bedroom for a really long time….then came the West Elm catalog.  Hello, baby.

DSCN1291As a jumping off point for the bedroom upfit I purchased the following…….

Bedroom

I can’t wait to incorporate these into my bedroom!  Here is a CLEAN before picture:
DSCN1288Nice….but it needs a little something, right?  Adding in those coral-y red colored accents will add some interest.
Why, yes….that is a Star Wars TIE interceptor on my night stand….THANK YOU for noticing.  A very nice friend of mine made it for me with a 3D printer.  Yes, I am a nerd….get over it.
Here is a view going the other direction:
DSCN1290Somethings I need to consider while considering this upfit:
1.  New Laundry basket.  I am partial to this one from West Elm
2.  Re-think the verbiage on the Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me.  It was our wedding song and I have had it up for a rea…lll…yyyy long time
3.  Overhead light update.  If you remember my Christmas list, there was this amazing light from eBay….to bad it sold for $450.00.  My goal is to find something reasonably priced that has the same feel to it as the eBay version.
4.  The doors to the bedroom and the closet.  To be fair the doors on the whole floor need to be updated to match the updates we did downstairs after the whole water affair.
5.  Last but not least….centering the World Art piece over the bed….
DSCN1289Ummmm…why is there a pink spot on my pillow????????????

Update to Rolly Cart Corner

So Rolly Cart Corner was feeling a little on the boooorrrrrrrrriiinnnnnnnnggggggg side.  So I put up some artwork to try and up the ante. (Maybe the terrarium should go?)

Love the art…..gotta keep it up for a bit to see if the corner works for me.  Rolly Cart loves getting more attention, so something definitely needs to fancify that corner!

Let’s get a couple of sexy close ups to really show off 🙂

Giant Lamp!! Out of the corner

So you  know Giant Lamp…. Well, I re-styled the corner to make sure Giant Lamp is more appreciated.

Yeah, Yeah….Cord Mess is still there.  I will fix this!!!  Corn Plant has a crappy planter.  I will fix this!!!   Anywhoo….the new placement of Giant Lamp.  I promised I would get her out of the corner…and I did…by about 12 inches.

Let’s try the styling on the shelves again…..

Looks more like it used to.  Maybe I am stuck in this style mode for awhile.  I will need to do some internet searches and some additional mid-century design book browsing for some inspiration.
