New Rug for Jane’s Room

Jane’s room looked this last week:

I really liked how the room was set up and Jane approved….but the girls were only playing in there when guests were over.  I bought an Ikea table for them to use in July and it was crazy popular for little bit, but they steadily started setting up on the floor in my office to play.  It turns out that Jules and Jane wanted to set up in the office to play school…..so I made a few adjustments to make it work.

The Ikea table sits on a new Circo Rug from Target.  It’s a light blue/grey that looks really nice with the wall color.  So far so good.  The girls have been playing school in Jane’s room and utilizing the table….with Jane as the student of course.

The interior wall hasn’t changed.

and the closet is still the same

Overall a simple move of the bed to one wall and the table moved to the middle over a rug.  Pretty simple change but it looks super cute.  What do you think?

New Dining Room Chairs

We haven’t had proper dining room chairs for ages and ages.  Once our butcher block table was completed, it was very apparent that we needed some chairs to use to actually sit (!!!) at the table.  right, like who needs chairs for a dining table???  this girl.

I found this really pretty white set and debated – debated some more and then bit the bullet and bought them.

ignore the fact that the stickers are still on there and I said we would take them off

I turned the table 90 degrees and am left with this view from the retro temp couch.

Do you like??

It’s a nice addition, just in time for our Thanksgiving.  We will be staying here this year, due to my work schedule but we are lucky enough to have family and friends coming to us.

Retro Living Room – temporary

Well – my beloved Orange couch is in need of some repair.  I am not sure what the damage is quite yet, but there seems to be a popped spring or a broken brace.  *sniff*  Luckily there is a very good furniture repair business in town that I like and trust, so Orange couch will be going to the clinic to get well again.

DSCN1717Unfortunately because the repair needs to be made under the seat it is almost a foregone conclusion that it will be reupholstered when it returns home.  What that upholstery will be I have no idea.  Dave threw out the black vinyl that we used on our other 2 chairs…but I think that may be too much.  White, Cream, Light Grey, Pale Orange….those have all been entertained….but none chosen yet.  What do you think???

In the meantime – I have moved a couch from storage (slated for the future game room downstairs) into the living room.

One item on my list is to fashion some kind of attachment to keep the cushions in place.  They slide like crazy.  Velcro??

IMG_0268Looking at this pic – I will be moving Giant Lamp to the corner table between the sections.  Beyond that this couch will do nicely as a fill in, especially with the holidays coming up fast.

DIY Bedroom Spray Paint Project

So last weekend I went a little nuts with the spray paint…..and it kind of bled over to this weekend.  Seriously, take the spray can out of my hand.

But First!!!  A completed project that I started:

Here is where I left off……

IMG_2868This used to be a mirror and I decided to change it.  of course I decided to change it……

I spray painted the backing wood a nice chrome and then went about my business with the gold leaf.  Say What?  Yup – gold leaf.

IMG_2876That milky white stuff in the picture above is the adhesive……let it set and then start applying your gold leaf.

IMG_2877I got myself all gilded up….on accident.  apparently there are people out there who rock at this and don’t make a serious mess……but I am NOT one of them.

IMG_2879I layered in white, grey, various shades of blue and kept working it until I was happy with the result.

IMG_2883I like how it turned out……and I put it up in the bedroom.  Turns out I must have unconsciously used that mirror…..as I have been glancing at it non-stop and being surprised that it wasn’t my reflection.

IMG_2908Like it?

IMG_2907Remember when I said I couldn’t stop spray painting stuff?

Here’s a clue…….

IMG_2884OMG make it stop (Dave says silently)
